Rioja Wine
The Rioja province is Spain’s most famous and notable growing region. Known primarily for its reds, the Spanish wine capital sees production from a wide range of varietals with Tempranillo being one of the most popular. Rioja is aged in oak casks typically produced from American or French oak trees. These casks give the wine a variety of subtle flavours ranging from coconut to caramel.Rioja Tempranillo
Tempranillo reds boast primary fruit flavours of cherry, plum and fig. Other strong flavours include leather, tobacco, dill, cedar and caramel. Lighter notes to expect are black pepper, cigar, cocoa and allspice. Tempranillo pairs excellently with tomato pasta dishes and red meats. Try with garlic and rosemary lamb chops, a gourmet burger or a tangy tomato risotto.
