Pinot Noir Wine
Pinot Noir is a black grape variety with growing regions across the globe. The grape was originally native to France and its name is derived from the French words for ‘pine’ and ‘black’ referring to the grapes pinecone shaped like clusters and black berry colour.Flavour
Pinot Noir wines offer a diverse spectrum of flavours due to their widespread growing regions and differing growing conditions. French Pinot Noirs have a typically more earthy profile which is offset by a floral and fruity bouquet. Californian Pinot Noirs are generally more fruity with spicy and sweet notes.Best Pairings
Due to the wide range of pinot noir varieties it makes a suitable choice for a wide range of foods. Fruiter and lighter pinots pair well with cold cuts and dry cured meats, creamy cheeses and pates. Roast duck dishes are also a classic pinot noir pairing; full bodied pinots match wonderfully with the spiciness of a Hoisin sauce making them an excellent choice for Peking duck with pancakes. Great veggie pairings include mushroom or truffle risotto, roasted Brussels sprouts and a rich lentil stew.
